Americans are being asked to take a role in combating pornography.
White Ribbon Against Pornography (WRAP) Week started in 1987 and is sponsored by the National Center on Sexual Exploitation. Spokeswoman Aubrey Pound tells OneNewsNow more than one generation has inherited a tainted culture because of pornography.
“We have learned how to have relationships from pornography, and our culture and society are seeping with these messages that we have learned,” she laments. “There are studies that show that violence is contained in … a majority of the pornography that is produced and promoted online, and also racism is very prevalent in pornography.”
She adds that much of the world is negatively impacted by porn’s greater web of sexual abuse and exploitation.

“It reinforces and fuels all of the forms of sexual harm,” Pound says. “Anyone who has experienced sexual harassment and assault, anyone who has experienced violence in a relationship, those who have been affected by sex trafficking or objectification — all of these things can be related back to pornography.”
During WRAP Week, people put white ribbons on their home or car, hold meetings with elected officials, sponsor neighborhood programs to educate the public of the harms of pornography, and use social media to acquaint people with the necessary fight against porn.
