3/17/2020

We hope to continue placing animals in homes and serving as a resource for our community in the coming weeks! HSWM will continue to follow the guidelines and mandates put forth by the State of Michigan regarding the COVID-19 outbreak. At this time, our shelter will remain open by appointment only. HSWM has made the following decisions regarding our adoption, surrender, volunteer, and community programs. Please read on for more details.

To those able to help, donations are appreciated now more than ever. Thank you for your support.

ADOPTIONS:

Effective immediately, all animal adoptions will be appointment only. Please take the time to complete your adoption survey online prior to your appointment. For your safety, we ask that you limit the amount of people accompanying you. If you or a family member have been sick, please stay home. To schedule an appointment, call 616-453-8900.

SURRENDERS:

Our Animal Admitting department will remain open and will operate on its usual appointment-only basis. We will attempt to do all paperwork car-side to limit community traffic in and out of the building. Please call 616-453-8900 x216 to be placed on the waitlist.

VOLUNTEERS:

Volunteers will not be permitted inside the building to limit exposure. We ask that volunteers stay home and will share any updates via email. Please know that animals will still be walked and socialized by staff! If you are interested in volunteering to foster an animal, please contact Foster Coordinator Stephanie at sstrowbridge@hswestmi.org

PROGRAMS:

All community programs (including youth programs, vaccine clinics, fundraising events, obedience classes, etc.) have been cancelled until further notice to remain within guidelines put in place by the State of Michigan. Updates will be shared to those impacted in a timely manner.
