NO STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED ON MONTSERRAT
27th March 2020
March 27, 2020 GIU, Davy Hill Montserrat– The Government of Montserrat is informing the public that there has been no state of emergency declared on Montserrat.
His Excellency, the Governor Andrew Pearce today (March 27, 2020) signed a proclamation to bring section 18(1) to (8) of the Montserrat Constitution Order (Cap.101) into force. By doing this, it allows for emergency powers to be effected under the Constitution, instead of the old Leeward Islands (Emergency Powers) Order 1959; which has already been revoked in the other British Overseas Territories to which it had applied.
